Please be aware, you will only be able to raise one problem with a Dr, ANP or Practice Nurse in a single consultation (please click on link below). If you have two problems you would like to discuss, please ask for a double appointment.

Patients can now book routine appointments with a GP online
Horsefair Surgery offers different types of appointments aimed at meeting the needs of our patients.
Routine: these can be booked from 2 days up to 4 weeks in advance and are for follow-up or on-going consultations with a GP
Book on the Day: These appointments are offered, by our team of Advanced Nurse Practitioners, to patients who have an acute minor illness or ailment
Urgent: These are for acute medical problems that cannot wait until the next available appointment and can be with a GP
Telephone Appointments: Sometimes we can deal with an issue over the telephone. If appropriate, and available, the receptionist will book a telephone consultation This saves time for both patients and the GP

Our phone lines are open between 08.00 and 12.30pm and 2.00pm until 18.30hrs Monday to Friday.
Patients can make a routine appointment with a Doctor, from 2 days to 4 weeks in advance, in person, by telephone or online. To access online booking you will need to register for Patient Access - please speak to one of our receptionists.
Please note that once you have booked your appointment online you will need to refresh your browser to confirm that the appointment has been booked for you.
For any acute medical problem that cannot wait for the next available routine appointment and needs to be dealt with on the same day, the receptionist will offer you an appointment with one of our Advanced Nurse Practitioners or, if appropriate, an 'urgent face to face' appointment with a GP. These appointments are for acute medically urgent problems only.
If you are unable to keep your appointment, will you let us know as soon as possible by popping in to the surgery and speaking to one of our receptionist at the front desk, telephoning the surgery or, responding to the text message reminder and following the instructions.
Patients, who continually fail to attend appointments they have made, may be removed from the list.

Most acute minor ailments and illnesses can be dealt with by an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (a specialist nurse with advanced training and experience) and you will be offered an appointment with one of our highly trained ANP's in the first instance, if this appropriate. ANP's are all independent practitioners and can diagnose and prescribe.
Our receptionists are usually the first point of contact and are here to help you. They have a lot of information to hand and in most cases will be able to help with your enquiry, ensuring you see the most appropriate clinician. Nonetheless, it is your right to request to talk only to the doctor. Anything that is discussed with the receptionists or any other member of the team is treated in strict confidence. You have a right to be treated courteously, and our receptionists also have a right to be treated courteously by you.
Extended Hours Appointments
Our patients now have even better access to a doctor at the weekends and in the evenings. Neighbourhood Access Hubs developed by Principal Medical Limited (PML) on behalf of Oxfordshire practices in 2015, have extended their opening hours so that yet more patients can benefit from national GP Access funding (GPAF).
The aims of the service remain the same; patients requesting a pre-bookable GP appointment at their own practice, may be offered an appointment at a nearby location, with a local GP or nurse who has access to their medical records.
In North Oxfordshire, hub sessions are held at Banbury Health Centre or other local GP practices at various times between the hours of 8.00am and 8:00pm Monday to Friday. Banbury Health Centre hub appointments are also available on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Appointments can be booked through your usual GP Practice reception.
Whatever the day or time, if you or someone else experiences severe chest pain, loss of blood or suspected broken bones, go to your nearest accident and emergency department or call 999. If you need urgent medical advice during surgery opening hours you may, if you wish, telephone the practice. Alternatively you can also call NHS Direct 111. Just dial 111, calls are free from landlines and mobiles.
Appointment Reminder Service
Have your ever thought that you ought to be somewhere but can't remember where?
We offer a FREE text reminder service to all patients for whom we hold a mobile number for. When you make a pre-bookable appointment we will send you a text reminding you of your forth coming appointment. We do not send any patient identifiable information, Occasionally we may have a health campaign, such as our flu campaign, and we may use the text service to make you aware that our flu season is underway.
To take advantage of this FREE service all you need to do is provide us with your current mobile telephone number.
If you feel you would like a chaperone present at your consultation, please inform the Doctor or Nurse who will be happy to arrange this for you.
On some occasions your Doctor or Nurse may ask for a chaperone to be present during examination.
